Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee collects the keys to the new fire station from Imran Hamid, the Chamber President.
ROSE HALL TOWN, CORENTYNE – History was created in Rose Hall Town yesterday when the youngest Chamber of Commerce in Guyana handed over the keys to the $10.3 million fire station to Government.
The project was the brainchild of the six-year-old Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony yesterday, Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee, described it as a positive development that deserves wide acclaim.
Commending the job done by the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce, Minister Rohee noted that it is another manifestation of a partnership between Government and the Private Sector. In fulfillment of a promise, Government handed over a $32 million fire tender with a capacity to hold 400 gallons of water and transport five fire fighters.
So far, 18 volunteers are attached to the fire station.
