Rain once again had the final say and the two quarter-final matches between Santos and Seawall Football Club and the BK International Western Tigers up against Fruta Conquerors that was scheduled to be contested Friday evening last will now take place this evening at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC).
The winners of the two encounters are guaranteed places in the semi-final fixed for next Sunday May 23 at the same venue. Santos FC will feel comforted with the presence of former national youth striker, William Europe with support from Shemroy Arthur now out of the goal and shoring up the midfield position, Trevor Lewis, Kasi John, O’Neal Heywood and Glenorvan Edmonds while Seawall FC will feed off Toine Lopes, Delon Josiah, Garlan Lewis, Keith Blackman, Cleveland Walcott, Marvin Griffith and Michael Castello to thwart the plans of Santos and ensure their passage to the semis.
Both teams would have felt disappointed by the turn of events following several aborted games.
The fans also turned out in their numbers only to be met by a dark venue since the decision to abort play had already been taken.
This evening both camps would be coming with blood in their eyes and with the expected support from the droves of fans, would be playing hard to advance.
They are without the services of their star striker Manasseh Primo but would bank heavily of the rampaging team of players led by sturdy defensive skills of Neville Stanton plus the competence of other stars the likes of Paul Bobb, Mustapha Haqq, Jomo Hinds, Dellon Williams, Joslyn Harry, Sheldon Shepherd and Eon Alleyne. With such a formidable line up they may fancy their chances of a clear cut win.
The Tigers are no strangers to a real battle and Conquerors can expect the BK boys to turn up for a showdown, one they intend to win. Who will win? That question would be answered tonight.
Fans visiting the venue could expect a great game as the Conquerors’ juices flow and the Tigers bare their fangs. With the huge half million dollars prize looming both teams would want to stake a claim. Kick off time is 18:00hrs sharp.
