Troy Lewis versus Iwan Azore, Kwinda Rogers against Sharon Ward, Shawn Pyle in the opposite corner of Clifton Barker and Eversley Brown matching gloves with Kwesi Jones. The Friday Night fights organized by the Guyana Boxing Board of Control in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the National Communication Network is here once again and come Friday 28 next these principals would be slinging punches, each determined to come out victorious.
The corporate support is improving and so too is the support of the fans. Some have decided to enjoy the fistic battles from the comfort of their homes but others refuse to stay away from the arena. The respective fighters are in training and rearing to go. The feedback received from previous ventures suggests that the fans are enjoying the show.
The bout that has caught the imagination of the crowd seems to be the Azore/Lewis encounter. Lewis has fought twice since the inauguration of the programme and his telling first round pulverizing of Rudolph Fraser should be noted. Azore is a businesslike fighter that is not easily fazed by reputation. Lewis would have to come out punching if he hopes to cart off the honours.
As for Rogers, she had better be prepared for a hectic bout. Ward is in top form and would want to retain that form with grandeur. She is a bustling customer while Rogers is a slick boxer. Rogers is still to register a win after losing her first bout in the inaugural ProAm boxing card in Berbice to Mandessa Moses.
The two other bouts are expected to add to the excitement of the card. Fans attending the show would want to be in their seats before the first gong sounds at 20:00hrs.
Kaieteur Sport would be monitoring the activities of the respective fighters over the next few days to ascertain their chances of bringing home the bacon.
