-association expects out-of-town players
As the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Independence Tournament looms, the association expects strong participation from those out-of-town players, especially those coming from the recently constituted Essequibo committee.
National Table Tennis Coach, Linden Johnson told Kaieteur Sport yesterday that most of the players are intensifying preparations while those that were not active have returned to the tennis tables for one of the most important calendar events. “The players are coming out and doing their thing. Most of the seasoned players are just working on fine tuning now,” Johnson said, adding that he expects players from Berbice, Linden and especially the now active Essequibo area.
“It may not be big as last year but we anticipate a lot of players,” Johnson said, reminding players to register as early as possible for the event, which is expected to commence next weekend at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
