Horse Racing returns to Rising Sun

Rising Sun Turf Club, which has taken up the leading role of helping charity organisations, has once again come to the aid of yet another as they team up with Brotherhood of St Andrew in the Anglican Diocese organisation for their annual one day Meet which will be held this Sunday, at Arima Park West Coast Berbice.
Seven races are carded for the day with over $3 million in prize money up for grabs.
The feature ‘C’ class event is once again the main attraction and will be run over 1400M with a whopping $400,000 available for the winner.
The 3 yrs old open 1300M sprint has $250,000 as the first prize money.
The other events listed on the day’s programme which will all be run over 1300M are the F and lower showdown for a first prize of $160,000, while the G and lower gallop will see the winner taking home $140,000 and the ‘I and lower race has $120,000 available as the top prize.
The Division One and Two contest has $100,000 at stake for the winner, while the Division three event carries a top prize of $ 80,000.
Race time is 13.00 hrs.
The champion jockey and Trainer will receive trophies compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda market.
News out of Rising Sun is that the organisers are pulling out all the stops to make sure that the facility is in top shape. A new stand is being built along with the upgrading of the track and toilet facilities.
Horse owners are also being reminded to get their horses properly registered with the Guyana Horse Racing Authority, as those horses not properly entered will not be allowed to participate in the days proceedings.
