ERC Chairman Bishop Juan Edghill, Commissioners Carvil Duncan and John Willems, and CEO (ag) Ms. Yvonne Langevine, with the Muslim Representatives.
The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) yesterday convened its annual Constituency Meetings for the year. The meetings were held with representatives of the Hindu and Muslim Communities respectively as the Commission commences its Strategic Assessment process.
The ERC stated the first meeting was held with representatives of the Hindu Constituency where 13 persons participated in addition to seven participants from the Muslim Constituency. The meeting commenced with ERC Chairman, Bishop Juan Edghill outlining the aim, which he says is basically to garner feedback from the Commission’s stakeholders on its work over the years.
He also updated the participants on actions the Commission took on issues which were raised at the August 2009 Constituency Meetings. The Chairman informed the representatives that those have since been addressed by the Commission.
At these meetings representatives told the Commission that they are pleased with the representation made by the Commission on their behalf since those issues addressed are of National importance.
Following the Chairman’s opening remarks, participants were asked to highlight any new issue which the Commission can assist in resolving.
The representatives were then asked to offer their comments and recommendations to the consultant as the ERC Chairman, Commissioners, Chief Executive Officer (ag) and staff exited the meeting.
