Up to press time yesterday, doctors at the Georgetown Public Hospital were battling to save the life of a man who was stabbed in his neck by a fellow client of the Salvation Army Rehabilitation Centre.
Also up to press time, the man’s attacker was being sought by the police. Reports are that around 15:00 hours yesterday at the Rehab centre in Kingston, 33 year-old Wayne Rogers was stabbed in his neck during an argument with a fellow client. This newspaper was told that Rogers was stabbed in the left side of his neck with a ball point pen. Moments after the incident the perpetrator managed to flee the centre and other clients rendered assistance to the injured man. Roger has only been a client of the centre for some one month while his attacker has been at the centre for some three months. An official who spoke with this newspaper said the incident is indeed unfortunate as it is the first time such violent act has been meted out to a client by another client. The official said, given the background the clients come from it is a norm for minor arguments but they never expected yesterday’s incident.
The matter has since been reported and investigations are ongoing.
