– court hears
Charles Goodluck, 61, a security guard, of Betsy Ground, who was previously charged with murder, attempted murder and assault, all committed on former female partners, was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Omeyana Hamilton at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on another attempted murder charge.
The alleged offence was committed on Maureen Johnson, 56, also a security guard attached to the RK Security Service and of Angoy’s Avenue.
The offence was alleged to have taken place on Saturday April 8, 2010. The state’s case is being presented by Corporal Roberto Figueira.
Kaieteur News understands that the two were in a relationship for about five months when the woman decided that she had had enough of Goodluck who was very abusive to her, and decided to end the relationship.
It is understood that on the day in question, the woman was at work at the St Aloysius Primary School on Garrison Road, New Amsterdam, when Goodluck visited and begged her for a chance to make up. The woman told him that she was finished with him and he should “go his way”.
When she was relieved from work at about 19:00 hrs, she was again approached by the man who told her that he was serious for them to make up again.
After he was again rejected, he held on to her neck and told her, “If I can get you nobody can”. He then pulled out a knife and plunged it into the right side of her face and attempted to stab her again. The woman started to shout for help and was rescued by persons in a passing car and taken to the nearby New Amsterdam Hospital where she was treated and sent away.
Goodluck was later arrested and charged with attempted murder.
He will have to return to court on May 31.
