The Berbice Cricket Board as part of its cricket development programme has organized a Wicketkeeping Clinic for young wicketkeepers in the ancient county. The clinic has been organised by the Special Events Committee and would be the first of several to be held as the Board strives to develop new talents in Berbice.
Chairman of the Special Events Committee, Hilbert Foster stated that the Seminar would be conducted by senior cricket coach Winston Smith and would be held at the Area “H” Ground all weather court today, Wednesday May 12 from 15:00 hours to 18:00 hours.
Mr. Foster disclosed with cricket not being played at the moment due to the rainy weather, the Berbice Cricket Board would be using the time to hold clinics for junior cricketers. Other clinics would be for fast bowlers, spinners and batsmen.
The junior Selection Committee under the chairmanship of Leslie Solomon selected the wicketkeepers for the clinic based on ability, potential, attitude and discipline.
The following players are asked to report to the Area “H” Ground at 15:00 hours in their white cricket uniform and wicketkeeping gears – Nicholas Cameron, Akeem Hinds, Clinton Lindie, Nazrudeen Bux, Quacy McPherson, Andy Grant, Hakeem Bowling, Collis Cort, Hemchand Kallo, Andy Mohan, Alex Gomes, Winston Mingo, Lakeram Paltoo, Ganesh Narinedat, Jamal Henry, Rishi Persaud and Shimron Hetmyer.
