When competition in the annual Bakewell sponsored Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) organised 15 overs Inter-Jamaat round-robin competition continued last Saturday and Sunday at the MYO Ground, Woolford Avenue, Grove Falcons and New Mosque recorded back to back wins.
Following are the results of the respective matches played: New Mosque batting first against Grove Falcons were bowled out for 114; Imtiaz Ally stroked 33 and Shameer Baig 26. Salman Ghanie grabbed 4-18 and Imran Khan 2-19 for Grove Falcons who reached the required target without losing a wicket; Shafeek Azad slamming 60 and Imran Khan 37.
Diamond New Scheme took to the crease first against Fyrish and were sent packing for 126. Fyrish Hafeez Sakoor took 3-12 and Intikhab Sakoor 2-16 for Fyrish who rattled their way to 131-4; Ricky Amoi led the victory charge with 69 supported by Zameer Mohammed’s 28.
New Mosque batting first against Diamond New Scheme posted 148-6; Toney Ramjewan 35, Imtiaz Ally making 26 and Navin Persaud 22 the top contributors with the bat.
Fizul Baksh picked up 3 wickets for Diamond New Scheme who were limited to 129-9 as the overs ran out. Khalid Khan 26*, Imtiaz Mohammed and Nizam Mohammed with 21 each could not take their side to victory. Doing the damage with the ball were Imran Baksh with 3 wickets, Imtiaz Ally had 2.
Sisters Village posted 116-8 against New Mosque with Devendra Chatterpaul leading with 46. Toney Ramjewan picked up 3 wickets and Imtiaz Ally 2 for New Mosque who in reply reached 117-3; Navin Persaud hitting 40 and Ramjewan 17.
Sisters Village lost their encounter to Grove Falcons, after being bowled out for 85 in response to 116-8 racked up by Sisters Village. Davendra Chatterpaul was the lone stand out for the losers with 47.
Kitty batting first against Success were bowled out for 100; Freddie Bacchus 32 and Altaf Habibullah 22 the main contributors. Shazim Haniff captured 4 wickets, Shayaim Razack and Asif Singh 3 apiece but Success found the going tough as they were toppled for 65.
Habibullah accounted for 3 wickets and found able support from Abdullah Farook and Alim Samad who picked up 2 each.
Fyrish won by walk over from Mon Repos A who failed to show up.
Competition will continue on Sunday at the same venue with the following matches: Fyrish play Mon Repos A from 09:00hrs, New Mosque tackle Grove Falcons from 11:00hrs, Fyrish will be in action again against Diamond New Scheme at 13:00hrs with the final match of the day featuring Diamond New Scheme against New Mosque.
