16-year-old missing … mother fears abduction
Missing, 16 year old Alana Archer
The distraught parents of 16-year-old Alana Archer have begun to worry that their daughter may have been lured to parts unknown and is perhaps being held against her will after she failed to return home several days ago.
Mignon Jordan, 38, Alana’s mother, said that the last time she saw her only child was at 10:00hrs last week Thursday, when she left to spend the day with a friend that Ms. Jordan could only identify as ‘Rasta Girl’.
Alana’s disappearance was only reported early Wednesday, prompting the question of why Ms. Jordan chose to wait so long to report the incident. Her response was that she could not control her daughter who tended to just leave the house without saying anything to anyone and to generally do as she pleases.
Ms. Jordan also said that Alana never stayed out all night. The 16-year-old was not working nor was she in school, having last attended the Government Technical Institute (GTI) before dropping out.
The mother claimed that she was so frustrated that she had taken away her daughter’s cellular phone before she left the house.
She also claimed that Alana was slated to attend a wedding in Linden last Saturday and when she didn’t see the girl on Friday she had just assumed that the young girl had already left for the mining town without telling her anything as usual.
On that Sunday, however, Alana’s friend, Rasta Girl, returned from Linden and stated that Alana had not been at the wedding. She told Alana’s mother that she had overheard Alana talking about her age to her older sister who, according to Ms. Jordan, ‘runs the bush’.
The friend claimed that the last time she saw Alana was when she left her older sister with her on Front Road, West Ruimveldt where they had gone to have their nails done.
Ms. Jordan claimed that after the weekend she began to get worried that her daughter had been taken into the interior to parts unknown and she had no idea what she was going to do.
The matter which was reported to the ranks at the East La Penitence Station was being investigated as of yesterday and the ranks had no information to divulge on the matter.
She also noted that before she came to this newspaper, her daughter’s friend had been at the police station assisting the police with the investigation as to the whereabouts of her daughter.
Ms. Jordan alleges that Rasta Girl’s older sister may have forced or allowed her daughter to run away to the interior and perhaps she might be forced into illegal activities in lieu of her freedom.
