A Sophia resident is counting his lucky stars after escaping without any serious injuries on Friday night when he was shot twice by two gunmen.
The man Tony Prince, 33, of lot 52 North Sophia was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by a police patrol shortly after 23:00hrs on Friday. The bullets grazed the back of his head and struck him on his instep.
Yesterday when this newspaper visited the injured man at the hospital, he complained of feeling dizzy. He was also receiving intravenous drips.
Recounting what transpired on Friday night, Prince said that he and two friends were at a nearby shop, drinking.
Prince said that he saw two men approaching, but did not pay attention to them.
He said within seconds the two men pulled out handguns and opened fire on them. According to Prince the men fired at them with the intention to kill someone.
“These men just shooting and they ain’t care; it lasted for about five minutes,” Prince remembered.
His two friends managed to escape but Prince was struck twice. After he was shot the men quickly made good their escape.
Prince who never lost consciousness during the entire ordeal said he managed to run to his mother’s home.
His mother, he recalled, frantically tried to summon a taxi to take her son to the hospital.
As luck would have it, a police patrol was in the area and rushed Prince to the hospital.
The injured man said that he was never involved in any illegality and that the entire attack is puzzling.
“I don’t have any problems with anyone so I really don’t know what caused the shooting,” Prince said. The matter was reported and the police are carrying out investigations.
