The annual Bakewell sponsored Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) of Guyana 15 overs Inter-Jamaat Softball round-robin cricket competition continued last Sunday at the MYO and LBI Grounds.
At the MYO Ground in the City, MYO made light work of Land of Canaan winning by 7 wickets.
Land of Canaan batted first and were bowled out for 105; Feroze Mohammed 32 and Shazam Ally 22, the principal contributors. Shaheed Gittens 3-19, Richard Latiff 3-28 and Waslim Haslim 2-8 did the damage with the ball for MYO who eased to the winning score losing 3 wickets in the process.
Leading the victory charge were Shaheed Gittens 31, Richard Latiff 26 * and Waslim Haslim 20.
Providence won via walk over from Triumph while the Kitty/Queenstown game was washed out because of the heavy showers that came in the afternoon.
At the LBI Ground on the East Coast of Demerara, home team LBI hammered Mohammed’s X1 by 9 wickets. Mohammed’s XI were sent packing for 76 taking first strike, Asif Mohammed top scoring with 25. Raymond Karim was the main wrecker with the ball picking up 3-19 as LBI ‘A’ cantered to 77-1 in reply. Akram Ali hit an undefeated 29 and Salim Khan 28.
Mon Repos ‘B’ won by walk over from Farm ‘B’. The game between Farm and Lusignan was washed out because of the heavy rains in the afternoon. Meantime, no matches were played at the National Park due to heavy rain.
