Dear Editor,
I observed a curious thing while scouring the letter pages of the Kaieteur News (25/04/10). Mr. Eric. Phillips, while writing about the work and contribution of the now deceased Mr. Clarence Ellis, made reference to the competing print and electronic media, namely the Guyana Chronicle, Guyana Times and the Government Information Agency (GINA).
This reference was made in relation to what the letter writer perceived as the blatant ignorance being displayed by these three entities when it comes to eulogising the life and work of Mr. Clarence Ellis.
I am somewhat curious as to how Mr. Phillips can make such direct reference to Dr. Prem Misir’s writings on “Trust as a basis for shared governance”, as he calls it, while another letter penned by Dr. Misir appeared the very same day on the exact subject with very similar wording.
This is most interesting, and leaves one to wonder if the Kaieteur News in similar fashion employs people to write missives directed at lambasting officials on the governmental side, by feeding them communication that are sent into their offices for dissemination to the general public, before they are published.
Isn’t this the exact thing that the paper, through many letter writers and columnists, accuse the three aforementioned media outlets of being guilty of?
