Competition continues on Friday at the Georgetown Football Club ground when action in the Annual Mayor’s Cup football championship continues with quarter-final action at the venue starting at 6:00pm with a double header.
The evening’s proceedings open with the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) opposing Uprising, while the nightcap brings together BK International Western Tigers and Fruta Conquerors.
Teams in this round will be looking to advance to the final four where they have the chance to cash in on the lucrative prizes, inclusive of the first prize of $500,000, while $200,000 goes to the second placed finisher, third receives $100,000 and the fourth placed side collects $50,000.
The second set of quarter-final games will be contested at the same venue on Wednesday May 5 with Santos opposing Seawall FC and Alpha battling Riddim Squad.
Bad weather left the GFC ground under too much water last Sunday forcing the scheduled fixtures to be rescheduled.
