– relatives claim case of mistaken identity
Residents of Albouystown are asking questions as to when their woes will come to an end. This follows yet another murder in the community; this time a 20 year-old Mahaicony resident was shot and killed by a man on a bicycle.
Ryan Brimmer of Zeskendren Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital sometime after 01:00 hours yesterday.
At the time of the incident, Brimmer and two other relatives were off loading scrap iron from a horse cart at Hill Street, Albouystown, when a man rode up on a bicycle and confronted them with a firearm.
One of the relatives who was with Brimmer at the time, told this newspaper that he was in the yard while, Brimmer and another relative were outside.
“All see is Lesley riding coming towards we on a bicycle, and the other boy run but by Ryan aint know he, he didn’t really move, and Lesley seh ‘yeah buck I get you now…ah tell you y’all break war’,” one of the eyewitness said.
Relatives who feel they are being targeted because of an age old feud, said that the perpetrator of the act is no stranger to their family.
One witness to the incident said the bullets that killed his cousin were intended for him, but by there was not much light in the area his cousin was shot.
“Me and Ryan got same body structure, we hair plait de same way, and we even look like one another, and since Leslie brother get kill de whole family deh after we and dem always threatening to kill all ah we,” one relative lamented.
This newspaper was told that shortly after the incident, this newspaper was told that police stormed a house in the Albouystown community to conduct a search but no one was arrested.
Meanwhile, the dead man’s mother, Jean Ross, said she and her son only came to the city to spend time with their family a week now. The woman said she last spoke with her son around 18:00 hours yesterday.
This newspaper was told that the incident stemmed from an incident involving Brimmer’s uncles, Leonard and Randolph Allicock.
The Allicocks were charged for the murder of Wendell Tappin in January of this year. Tappin was chopped and beaten to death reportedly by the Allicocks. Initially, Tappin’s family disclosed that he was killed during an argument over a cellular phone. However, the Allicock family had claimed that three members of the Tappin family had brutally raped one of their relatives.
They claimed that nothing ever came out of the matter. The police shortly after issued a wanted bulletin for Steve Allicock.
However, to date Steve Allicock has not been arrested.
Ever since that incident the Allicock family said they have received numerous death threats from the Tappin family who since the death of their loved one reportedly vowed to get even.
