Tundra/Land Rover in Highway smash up
– White Castle Fish shop owner among victims
Manager of the White Castle Fish Shop, Jermaine Langevine, was among five people who were injured at around 10:00 hrs yesterday when a Toyota Tundra he was driving collided with a Land Rover near Yarrowkabra on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway yesterday.
Both of the vehicles were badly damaged and passersby had to prize open the door of the Land Rover to get the victims out.

Apart from Langevine, 31, of Lot 11 John and Hadfield Streets, who sustained a broken leg and facial injuries, the other injured persons are his companion Fawn Kendell, 26, of North Ruimveldt, who reportedly sustained spinal injuries; Matilda Hamsingh, aged three; her father, Ralph Hamsingh, who sustained a broken arm and leg; and Adrian Green.
Langevine underwent surgery at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, while Kendall was admitted to the GPHC’s High Dependency Unit.
Kaieteur News understands that Mr. Hamsingh, his daughter and Green were admitted to a private hospital.
According to reports, Langevine was heading north along the highway near Yarrowkabra when he drove into water and sand that had settled on the highway.
He lost control of the vehicle and swerved into the path of the Land Rover, which was heading in the opposite direction.
The driver of another vehicle told Kaieteur News that Langevine’s Tundra had overtaken them just a minute before the crash occurred.
The eyewitness said that they arrived on the scene to find Mr. Hamsingh trapped in the Land Rover. All the victims were conscious, but the bones of one of Mr. Hamsingh’s arms were protruding and he was trapped in the mangled Land Rover.
The man said that the driver of a truck attached a chain to the Land Rover and eventually managed to wrench the door open.
The eyewitness said he wrapped a tourniquet around the man’s broken arm. The injured were then rushed to the Daimond Diagnostic Centre before being transported to the GPHC and a private hospital.
