The Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club will hold its Post Arrival Day race meet at the on Sunday May 16 at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne Berbice.
Seven races are carded for the day and entries close on Saturday May 8 with no provision being made for late entries.
The organisers have stated that owners of horses must pay at least $3,000 for each horse at the time of entry. If they fail to do so the horses’ name would not appear on the official programme.
They must also register their horses with the Guyana Horse Racing Authority. If the names of the horses do not appear on the classification list, owners can register their animals with Dr Dwight Walron on telephone number 645-2848, 625-0100 or 220-6557.
Owners must present their horses for examination by the Vet not later than 11:00hrs on race day and owners and Trainers can also register their animals through Justice Kennard (tel 226-1399, 225-4818 or 623-7609) or Roopnarine Matadial (325-3192).
In the event that they are less than five horses entered for any race, the club reserves the right to cancel or reframe the said event.
The feature race is the 7-furlong C& Lower class for a first prize of $380,000. The 2nd prize is $190,000, the 3rd prize is $95,000 and the 4th prize $48,000. Many of the leading C Class racehorses in the country are expected to enter this race.
The F & Lower class will be run over 6 furlongs for a first prize of $200,000, a 2nd prize of $100,000 and a 3rd prize of $50,000 are being offered.
The G& Lower class race over a distance of 6 furlongs has a first prize of $160,000, a 2nd prize of $80,000 and a 3rd prize of $40,000.
The I & Lower event over 7 furlongs will be contested for a first prize of $140,000 while the 2nd prize is $70,000 and the 3rd prize is $35,000.
The I 3 & Lower 6 furlong race carries first prize of $130,000, the J&K (Division 1&2) has a first prize of $110,000 at stake while the L (division 3) category will be run over a distance of 5 furlongs and carries a $100,000 winner’s purse.
