$500,000 on offer for winner of main event
The Rising Sun Turf Club, of Arima Park West Coast Berbice is known for its benevolence in assisting charitable organizations in staging fund raising horserace meets. This time its no difference, the club is collaborating with the West Berbice Lions Club will be staging a grand one day Post Labour day Horserace meet on Sunday May 2 at the club’s West Cost Berbice track.
Eight races have been carded on the day’s programme with over $3M in cash and other incentives up for grabs.
The feature C class event over 1400m is once again the main drawing card on the programme with a whopping sum of over $1M in cash and trophies on offer with the first prize being $500,000.
The three year old open gallop, also over 1400m for horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies, is another feature event on the programme. The winning prize has been tagged at $250,000.
The E Class event has a $160,000 purse and will see the horses also going over 1400m.
The G and lower showdown will also be 1400m with a winner collecting $160,000.
The H and lower event will see the winner carting off an encouraging $150,000 and will be a 1100m gallop.
The division 1&2 horse will compete for a winner’s money of $90,000 over a 1300m distance. The other event on the days programme is for division 3 horses which will be run over 1300m and will see the winner receiving $80,000.
Chester Fry Chicken of Bush Lot West Coast Berbice and Habibulla Farms of Rising Sun West Coast Berbice are already on board. Businessman Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall in Bourda Market, as usual is on board with sponsorship for the individual prizes which includes the champion jockey, champion trainer and champion stable among others.
