The finals of the 2010 BCB/Diamond Fire & General Insurance Company Inter-Zone Under-19 Tournament would be played off this weekend at the Port Mourant Cricket Ground between Lower Corentyne and New Amsterdam/Canje.
The match is expected to be a close and exciting one with both teams on paper being very strong but Lower Corentyne might have the edge in the batting department. Lower Corentyne would be led by Berbice captain Harrinarine Chattergoon and he would be supported in the batting line up by the inform Dominic Rikhi, Kandasammy Surujnarine, Joshua Ramsammy, Clinton Pestano, Trevor Thomas, Shailendra Shameer and Lloydel Lewis.
Pacers Pestano and Shailendra Hardyal would share the new ball while support would come from spinners Shawn Perreira, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Lewis, Veerapen Permaul and Shameer.
New Amsterdam/Canje would depend heavily on captain Joemal La Fleur with both bat and ball with support in the batting coming from Alex Gomes, Shimroy Hetmyer, Linden Austin, Kevin Ramdeen, Kelvin Leitch and Jamally Odle. Pacers Derick Cadogan, Daylon Edwards and Jamal Henry would spearhead the bowling attack while off spinners Linden Austin, Kevin Ramdeen and La Fleur would offer support.
Meanwhile Upper Corentyne and West Berbice would clash at the Albion Community Centre Ground on Saturday for 3rd and 4th place. The 50 Overs match would start at 09.30 hours. The Final would be played over two days with both sides batting 60 Overs in the first innings.
Prizes would be given to all the teams with the winner taking home $50,000, losing finalist 35,000, 3rd place $25,000 and 4th place $20,000. The Man of the finals would receive $5,000 and a trophy. Representatives of the Berbice Cricket Board and the Sponsor would hand over the prizes after the match ends on Sunday.
