Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon yesterday informed media operatives that the Cabinet has issued no objection for several hundred million dollars for the Ministry of Housing and Water.
The money is geared at facilitating the drilling of some four wells and the supply and installation of transmission mains.
Dr Luncheon told media operatives that as it relates to the drilling of wells some $89.9M has been approved for one in Canefield, Berbice while $77.13M was approved for a well in Tabatinga in Lethem. Another $89.9M was approved for a well in Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara and another $69.6M for a well at Good Hope in Essequibo.
As it relates the supply and installation of transmission mains, Dr Luncheon announced that some $20.9M has been approved for the upgrade of the system at Number19 Village in Berbice with another $24.9M for Number 72 to 76 villages.
Dr Luncheon also explained that some $18.7M was allocated for Amelia’s Ward in Linden and another $33.7M was allocated for the new Housing Scheme Parfaite Harmonie.
He said that transmission mains between Chateau Margot and Mon Repos will benefit from the no objection of some $20.8M while the Hope to Clonbrook area will benefit from $19.6M.
Dr Luncheon added between Mon Repos and Good Hope will also benefit from a $20.3M no objection while between Vigilance and Coldingen will be the beneficiary of a $23.9M no objection and Canal Number Two benefiting from some $17.8M
As it relates to the Agriculture Ministry Dr Luncheon announced that Cabinet issued a no objection to for the award of $174M for a rice seed facility at No#56 Village.
