Bakery Giants Bakewell yesterday officially announced their renewal of sponsorship for the respective Division one and Under-17 Cricket teams of Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, the leading Sports Club in Guyana.
Secretary/CEO of the club Hilbert Foster in giving an overview of the support received from Bakewell over the years, said they {Bakewell} has invested over $2.5 million as the official sponsor of their Division One and Under-17 teams as well as other programmes the club have from time to time including the awards ceremony, youth magazine, cricket academy and charity programmes.
Dozens of cricketers have been produced as a result of Bakewell’s long term investment plan for the club and among them are Royston Crandon who has played a number ODI’s for the West Indies, Assad Fudadin who is currently on duties with the WI ‘A’ team and female Windies cricketer, Shemaine Campbelle.
“We at the RHTY&SC will forever be grateful to Bakewell and its management for their support over the years. We are thankful because all of our success is Bakewell’s too, since it would not have been possible without them at our side.” The over $200,000 package includes gear for the teams, transportation and meals. “As Bakewell continues their sponsorship with us we would uphold its rich tradition of discipline and success and the company’s brand will always be represented with pride.”
Manager of Bakewell Rajin Ganga in brief remarks commended the RHTY&SC for the strides that they have made over the years in setting high standards for others to follow.
“The results and achievements of this club are well known throughout Guyana and the Region. As a responsible Corporate Citizen, we are delighted to be a part of their success. They have been able to set solid foundations for a number of players to make it to the top in terms of representing the West Indies and this is no ordinary achievement.”
Ganga informed that they will continue to partner with the RHTY&SC as well as maintain their commitment of assisting other sports across the board.
Meanwhile, RHTY&SC will be celebrating their 20th anniversary in September with a number of exciting events.
