The Guyana Defence Force has maintained the lead following the latest round of competition in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Super League which continued over the weekend.
The Army was kept in check with a 2-2 score line by Bakewell Topp XX in their clash which took place at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground in Linden on Sunday.
At the Blairmont Community Centre Ground, home team Rosignol United came out with full points against Buxton United in a grueling contest which produced 9 goals, Rosignol taking the rubber 5-4.
Taking back to back wins was East Demerara’s Victoria Kings who took care of home team Seawall FC 2-0.
The win for the Kings saw them moving into the 2nd spot in the standings with 10 from 6 matches, one more than leaders, GDF who are still unbeaten along with defending champions, Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United who were scheduled to face Milerock last evening at the MSC Ground.
The unpreparedness of the Bartica Community Centre Ground resulted in the game which should have featured hosts Liquid Gold and Sunburst Camptown not being played.
On Friday, a double header is fixed for the GFC Ground and will bring together Sunburst Camptown and the GDF from 18:00hrs with the main event between Alpha and Liquid Gold.
Three matches are fixed for Sunday. The Enmore Community Centre Ground will host the encounter between Victoria Kings and Rosignol United from 16:00hrs, from the same time at the Uitvlugt Community Centre Ground on the West Coast of Demerara, Seawall FC will entertain Linden’s Bakewell Topp XX while the venue for the Liquid Gold / Milerock encounter is yet to be decided.
