Annandale West and Enterprise XI were among the latest teams on winner’s row when first round action in the Rockaway Auto Sales Softball cricket tournament continued last weekend on the East Coast of Demerara.
Annandale West made 84 for 4 off 10 overs with Kennard Hookury 21. Bowling for Young Challengers Sachin Bissoon took 2 for 8 off 2 overs. Young Challengers replied with 71 for 6 off 10 overs; Mervin Bobb 30, for Annandale West Devendra Mohabir took 3 for 12 off 2 overs to see them win by 13 runs.
Enterprise beat Uprising by 12 runs. They batted and reached a challenging 122 for 4 off 10 overs (Parmanand Dindyal 37; Balwant Singh 1 for 18 off 2 overs) Uprising XI 110 for 2 off 10 overs (Feroze Amir 33; Ramdeo Mangru 1 for 6 off 2 overs).
Upsetter XI defeated Flasher XI by 121 runs. Upsetter scored 174 for 4 off 10 overs (Richie Reddy 49; S. Salir 1 for 18 off 2 overs) Flasher XI 53 all out (A. Williams 12; Narine Bailey 3 for 13 off 2 overs).
Regal XI overcame Pete’s XI by 37 runs. Regal XI 126 for 3 off 10 overs (Zulficar Ali 62 not out; Danny Thomas 2 for 16 off 2 overs) Pete’s XI 89 all out (Troy Ramsaywack 33; Mahesh Chunilall 2 for 25 off 6 overs).
Sting got the better of One Love Taxi by 37 runs. Sting XI 142 for 3 off 10 overs (Chris Williams 32; R. Basdeo 1 for 23 off 2 overs) One Love Taxi 105 for 4 off 10 overs (R. Basdeo 15; Chris Williams 2 for 12 off 2 overs).
