The police are investigating the suspected murder of a man whose name was given as Victor Sukhan of Albouystown, whose body was found at about 22:00hours on Saturday night on the Stabroek Market Tarmac at Brickdam and Cornhill Streets, with suspected stab wounds.
Sukhan, also called ‘Old Head’ was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Hospital.
According to reports, Sukhan received the wounds after he snatched a cell phone from a citizen and tried to run.
He reportedly collapsed in front of a popular eating house.
Sukhan is said to be a drug addict who hails from Albouystown and frequents the Stabroek Market area.
Family members were unaware of his demise when this newspaper contacted them yesterday evening.
One associate of the dead man said that he does not believe that Sukhan would have snatched a cell phone.
“He does thief yes, but I don’t buy that he snatch a phone,” the associate said. Sukhan’s body is presently lying at the Georgetown Hospital mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
