With all the hype that has been created in the horseracing environment the authorities at the Anjue and Hamlet Park Racing Club is anticipating a day of exciting racing today at Mahaicony.
According to Chief Organiser and President of the club Amernauth Kirtipaul, the entity is making every effort to have all systems in place in order to have the event run incident free.
Kiritpal said that the club is cognizant of the fact that the spotlight will be on his entity to ensure that some of the controversies that surfaced in the recent past does not re-emerge.
Recently, the problem of declaring a winner in photo finishes has been a main bug bear and as such the club is moving in the direction to tackle the problem front on.
He disclosed that all arrangements to have suitable and qualified judges as well as electronic equipment as a back up to help decide the winners in case of close finishes will be in place.
Seven races are still carded for the day’s programme and close to $3M in prize money and other incentives are up for grabs.
Some more adjustments have been made to the day’s programme. With the addition of the much anticipated three year-old Guyana and West Indian bred horses event, the distance has been changed from 1200M to 1400M with a winning stake of $250,000.
Another race has been added to the day’s programme, the ‘I’ class event has been taken out and replaced by two ‘I’ and Lower events.
The other feature event on the day’s programme will be the ‘E’ class 1200M match up where the top prize will be $260,000.
The three other races will see another event for three year-old horses, but this time for horses bred in Guyana and that will be run over 1600M for the first prize of $200,000.
The G class open event has a winner’s prize of $160,000 with the distance being a mile.
The division two and three event is another 1200M affair with the winner slated to take home $100,000.
Reports out of Mahaicony are that a lot of improvements have being done to the facility, while the track has been upgraded recently.
Digicel and Jumbo Jet Auto Sales are part of the days programme, while the top individual performers will be also be rewarded compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall of Bourda Market. Race time is 13:00 hrs.
