The Special Events Committee (SEC) of the Berbice Cricket Board as part of its Educational Programme would be hosting an Essay Competition for youths in the County.
The Competition would be open to youths between the ages of twelve (12) to sixteen (16) years and they would be required to submit an Essay between 300 to 400 words on the Topic “The Importance of Sports in the proper development of Youths in Berbice”.
The Berbice Cricket Board is encouraging all schools, cricket clubs and other sporting bodies to get their students and members to be a part of the competition and to submit their piece by Friday May 14, 2010.
Submissions can be taken to the Berbice Cricket Board Office at Cheddi Jagan Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice; Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Office, Area “H” Ground, Rose Hall Town Corentyne, Berbice or Mr. David Black at Rosignol, West Bank, Berbice.
The winner of the Essay Competition would receive $30, 000 worth of Educational materials and text books while the 1st runner-up will receive one pair of batting pads and the 2nd runner-up, one pair of batting gloves.
