Head of Ringside Promotions, Herman Harris has organized a meeting with several senior professional boxers, scheduled for the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue this afternoon starting at 17:30hrs.
Mr. Harris disclosed that the aim of the function is to ascertain the level of interest, capacity and the ability of the present crop of pugilists. He said that answers would be sought on the flagging fortunes of the sport. Several boxers have been identified for the programme and includes Guyana’s lone medalist at the Olympics, Michael Parris, former Fecarbox Lightweight champion, Joseph Murray, Vincent Howard, Gordon Carew and Orrin Apple Moore among others.
Mr. Harris has categorized the boxers as ‘The Legend Professional Boxers.’ The veteran promoter further explained he plans to promote the boxers in the near future. His first venture would feature former world rater, Wayne Harris against Howard ‘Battersea Bomber’ Eastman sometime in June. This bout would coincide with the anniversary of his group, Ringside Promotions. Quizzed on the practicality of the initiative, Mr. Harris said that it was workable provided the pugilists could whip themselves into the required shape.
