The Linden Business Softball Cricket Tournament sponsored by Linden Secretariat; Dink’s Auto Sales; Stihl Company – a branch of Farfan and Mendes (Linden) and Singh’s cash and carry and organized by the Guyana Softball League, got underway recently.
A tournament has been launched in Linden for Linden Teams in the aim to keep the Linden teams active since they have completed their leg of The Carib Beer Tournament before schedule. This tournament has attracted some 20 teams and is due to be completed just after the Town week in Linden.

Coomacka defeated Uprising CC by 78 runs:
Coomacka took First strike and rattled up 176 all out in 14.4 overs (Andrew Richmond 56; Ronald Da Silva 3-25 from 3 overs; Ricardo Anderson3-28 from 3 overs) In reply Uprising fell for 98 in 12.5 overs (Ronald Da Silva 22; Richard Edmonson 4-13 from 3 overs)
Classic XI made light work of The Amateurs by 54 runs:
Classic XI batted first and scored 118-9 in 15 overs (Marlon Bell 53; Travis Anthony 3-22 from 3 overs) In reply The Amateurs were bowled out for 64 in 8.2 overs (Anthony Harry 29; Anthony Bell 2-8 from 2 overs)
West Watooka defeated Bad Boys XI by 47 runs:
West Watooka SC batted first and scored 142-8 in 15 overs (Lennox Caleb 47; Rudy Bridgelall 3-22 from 3 overs) In reply Bad Boys fell for 95 in 11.5 overs (Wayne Willis 20; Joe Spencer 3-15 from 3 overs)
Meanwhile in the 4R Masters Cup competition also played last weekend, Savage Masters defeated Success Seniors in the lone match by 2wkts with Anil Rambarran grabbing 5-18 to claim a vital win for his team.
Success Seniors won the toss and batted, scoring 122 all out in 22 overs (Rishanand Mohabir 24; Vijay Baljit 21; Anil Rambarran 5-18 from 3 overs) Savage Masters replied with 124-8 in 13.4 overs (Kennard Luke 52 not out; Wallack Joseph 25; Bobby Ramnauth 3-14 from 2 overs)
In the Berbice Zone – Upper
#53 defeated Back-Centre X1 by 45 runs. #53 batted first and scored 141-7 in 15 overs
(Orin Sandy 34 Lalta Persaud 3-18 in 3 overs) Back- Centre in replied were limited to 96 all out in 12 overs (Fizul Deen 38, Orin Sandy 4 – 12 in 3 overs)
Crabwood Creek X1 defeated Race Course SC by 67 runs. Crabwood Creek batted first and scored 170-5 in 15 overs (Dave Charritar 45) Race course SC replied with 103 all-out in 14 overs.
#53 defeated #64 by 7 wickets. #64 batted first and scored 95 all out in 13 overs. #53 replied with 96 -3 in 12 overs. The Berbice (Upper) finals will be held on Saturday from 1:00pm at the Back Centre Ground between #53 and Crabwood creek.
