Dear Editor,
I have stopped writing letters because of censorship and disbelief that politicians can be so incredibly deceptive and uncaring.
However, recently, the psychological war against Africans in Guyana has accelerated so I have decided to write once again. This psychological onslaught treats African Guyanese as if they are thoughtless “beasts of burden”. It is full of deception, disrespect and destruction of the African Guyanese population.
A couple of days ago, Mike Persaud wrote a letter in which he stole the cake. Mike put forward the ludicrous and barefacedly deceptive argument that Clement Rohee is African Guyanese. He further argues the PPP should make him the next President of Guyana so that racial healing can occur. This outrageous statement is then given credibility with the following statement:
“Guyana is a one-party state for the foreseeable future. PPP is guaranteed to win – given the ingrained habit of both Africans and Indians voting race – and given the numerical majority of Indians in the country and the lock the PPP has on the six percent Amerindian vote. So, does it not make sense to nominate an African guy to head the party – and help change the perception of the party?
President Obama has now forced racists to try another trick. By openly claiming he is African American and not some cultureless breed called “mixed”, he has given them a major setback
Up to a week ago, and starting with the media’s strategy to give credibility to the newly formed AFC four years ago, a new race called “mixed” was created. There was a lot of talk, then and now, about Guyana’s “mixed” population.
In a recent article last week there was this statement that reinforced this virtual cultural identity; “Latest official statistics show that of a total population of 751,223 ; Africans/Black are 227,062 ; East Indians are 326,277; Mixed are 125,727 and Amerindians are 68,675”.
Based on Mike Persaud’s calculated deception, there are no longer any “mixed” people in Guyana since Clement Rohee is African Guyanese. What is your definition of African Guyanese other than they are idiots to be deceived and manipulated?
Sam Hinds, who is African Guyanese, is conveniently ignored in Mike Persaud’s discussion of an African Guyanese President. Yet Sam Hinds has helped to show the unadulterated racism of the PPP.
Twice, not once, he was ruthlessly and disdainfully forced to step down for an Indian candidate. Why would someone, anyone, refuse the most powerful position Presidential position in Guyana and the Caribbean, unless his life was at stake or this was pure racism. Never in the history of the World has a person whom was constitutionally designated to be the President, been dealt with such unfathomed racism.
Mike, why shouldn’t a real African Guyanese like Sam Hinds or Roger Luncheon (who is eminently more qualified in so many ways) be the President of Guyana since you are so sure of a PPP victory?
The other current deception underway is even more frightening in its consequences to Guyana and to African Guyanese. This is the argument that an Indian leading the PNC or a combined opposition will defeat the PPP and rid Guyana of the democratic stench.
For those in the PNC still suffering from this type of delusional stupidity, read again Mike’s reasons why Indians will not vote for the PNC. Perhaps you have also forgotten there are no Presidential elections in Guyana but that it would be Parties with undemocratic lists competing against each other.
For the functional and racially illiterate, let us do the numbers. For a victory the PNC with Murray as Leader would have to accomplish the following: convince 20 % of Indian voters to vote for Murray; convince 50% of the Amerindian vote to vote for Murray; convince 100 % of African Guyanese to vote for Murray; register 30 % of the African Guyanese support base that hasn’t registered and that has very little incentive to; match the PPP’s corrupt use of State resources; raise more campaign funds that the PPP and their friends in the 60% GDP black market; ensure at bottom house meeting and temples that they don’t preach Africans are inferior to Indians; apologize to the Nation for PNC past transgressions; convince Kemraj Ramjattan to join the combined opposition even though he has categorically said he wouldn’t; ensure the PPP wouldn’t create a racial incident to drag Indians back into the fold.
A functionally illiterate person in Guyana would not fail this math problem even though they would fail maths at CXC.
Only politicians, who are out of touch with reality, degreed but not educated, can believe in this fantasy. Even Jesus fully risen from the dead, wouldn’t believe this math.
Implicit in this equation is that an Indian is the PNC’s messiah. Strangely enough, Indians didn’t vote for Kemraj Ramjattan, Sharma or Desmond Hoyte who made them rich or Walter Rodney who gave his life for them. But they will vote for Winston Murray.
Why not have Clement Rohee be the candidate for the PNC? He’ll obtain both Indian and African votes according to Mike Persaud.
Oscar Ramjeet recently wrote a letter stating “If Corbin really wants to remove the People’s Progressive Party Civic PPP/C from office; he should resign as opposition leader and Head of the PNCR and allow the new leader to concentrate on winning the upcoming Local Government Elections and prepare for the General Elections”.
This is the greatest deception African Guyanese are faced with today. Freddie Kissoon, Ravi Dev, Joey Jagan, Mike Persaud, Randy Persaud and now Oscar Ramjeet are telling African Guyanese to go to another Westminster winner-take-all election to defeat the PPP in spite of the overwhelming evidence this will not happen.
Since we have a large group of functional and emotional illiterates masquerading as politicians…for this letter…tek half…leave three quarters.
