Dear Editor,
We must thank your paper for being in the forefront of the fight against Government corruption and its exposure thereof. GW1 has been issuing calls for water conservation but it seems that such calls do not apply if you are a PPP top brass.
The PPP call centre, aka NPS COMMUNUCATIONS, located opposite the Diamond Secondary School, has been dumping at least 100,000 gallons of treated water per day into the back drain. We therefore demand that GWI come public with the amount of money paid by the owner since 2008 and the reading on the meter.
If GWI refuses, then we call on all residents of the housing scheme to desist from even paying GWI one cent. We would not be surprised if the PPP call centre is not even listed on the customer database. Apart from the wasted water, this is a 24-hour operation involving 300 employees per shift.
We call it the PPP call centre because dozens of PPP flags were mounted on its roof during the PPP congress held at the said school. This building is owned by the brother of the Crime Chief so we would like you to keep this issue alive in your paper since the PPP thinks that the residents are the sheep in “Animal Farm”.
When you travel through the first street, you will observe the overflow pipes attached to the tanks on top of this building running heavily during the day even though GWI has reduced the water pressure.
And guess what – one of these wastes is being paid for. Before the owner blocked the left section of the yard, the water meter could have been seen detached and braced permanently against the building. This man is stealing water and dumping it while the majority of the residents further down the street are not getting any.
Call centre workers have confirmed that since GWI reduced the water pressure, the owner installed a larger pump on the mains.
We would like you to get one of your photographers and come through the first streets at 06:30 a.m. so that an expert picture can be taken of this perpetual waterfall. We would appreciate that the picture taken is published together with our letter.
We want the PPP to tell us on what basis was a decision taken to place a call centre in the middle of a residential area. Records at the Housing Ministry show the transport to be like any other, stating that the plot of land is for domestic construction.
We will mount a legal challenge to this nuisance. We say every long rope has an end. Residents both at the head of the first street and those living close by within the same street have complained about the noise this business generates, especially in the evenings. If the PPP hacks stop stealing water and electricity then both GWl and GPL would become viable entities
