The 2010 Spready’s Bakery Under-19, 50-Over Cricket Competition continued recently with third round matches.
Former Berbice Under-15 cricketer Lloydel Lewis slammed 76 (7 fours) which together with 43 from West Indies Female cricketer Shemaine Campbelle helped Rose Hall Town Pepsi A reach 249 for 9 in 50 Overs against Whim National. He then came back with his off-spinners to see Whim being bowled out for 168 in reply with Yogindra Sooknanan hitting a fine 65 (7 fours and 2 sixes). Jorim DeFreitas of Police was the other batsman to score a half century.
Off-spinner Maheshwar Naidoo took 5-13 and leg-spinner Avinash Wajid 2-3 to help Albion bowl out Rising Star for a paltry 47. Their opening batsman Berbice Under-19 cricketer Harrinarine Chattergoon (29 N.O) and Veerapen Permaul (13 N.O) then saw Albion to a 10 wicket win. Off-spinner Sherwin McPherson and medium pacer Andrew Dennis took 3 wickets each as Achievers bowled out Bush Lot Sports Complex for 96. Achievers went on to win by 9 wickets with Brentnol Woolford (46 N.O) and Dennis (23 N.O) involved in an unbroken 65 run 2nd wicket partnership.
