The post mortem conducted on two-year-old Kevin Henry who died in the Pomeroon River on Thursday last, confirmed the toddler died by drowning.
Around noon Thursday last, the toddler’s lifeless body was discovered in a nearby trench after family members frantically searched for him after he went missing.
The toddler’s father, Eusan Rose, said that he had returned from the back dam when he noticed his son was playing by the river as is customary.
Rose said the child would normally hold on to a piece of wood near the trench and dip himself in the water to play and sometimes take a bath.
He recalled that at least five minutes after returning home he noticed that the child had gone missing from where he had earlier seen him.
The man said that he and other family members began to scour the area but to no avail.
The man said he then heard his ten-year-old son screaming. When they rushed to him they saw the toddler floating in the river.
The child was rushed to the Charity Hospital where doctors tried desperately to save his life. He however succumbed.
