The rehabilitation of roads in Berbice would cost an estimated US$14 million.
Cabinet has given no objection to two major road projects in the ancient county. These are the rehabilitation of the Black Bush Polder road valued at US$5.249 million and the rehabilitation of the East and West Canje roads to the tune of US$8.6 million.
These were among a number of contracts the Cabinet gave its no objection to that were announced by Cabinet Secretary, Dr Roger Luncheon, at his weekly post-Cabinet news briefing.
In the health sector, there was a no objection given to spending of $31.4 million for the supply of equipment for the Food and Drugs Analyst Department and Public Veterinary Institutions.
In the housing and water sector, two contracts were given no objections for the construction of roads, drains and pure water distribution networks. These are Hope Estate, for $107 million, and Anna Catherina for $32.2 million.
In the national security sector, Cabinet gave its no objection to a contract valued at US$236, 000 for the overhaul of the Skyvan belonging to the Guyana Defence Force.
The other contract given a no objection by Cabinet was for the closure of Cell 3 at Le Repentir dumpsite valued at $39.9 million.
