The best Dirt Bike riders in Guyana will be shifting gears on Sunday at the Goed Fortuin Community Centre Ground when ‘De Ambassadors’ host the fourth round of the Grass Track Championship Series, which started last year.
With Andy Rajkarran leading the professionals and junior sensation, Junior Da Silva, abandoning his lead in the novices’ category to race the professionals, the day is certainly set for some entertaining performances.
Rajkarran and Da Silva had dominated the first meet at Hampton Court, Essequibo and in a similar fashion, the duo returned to hijack most of the attention at the second meeting of the Championship Series at Port Mourant late last year.
Promoter, Sheik Yaseen told Kaieteur Sport yesterday that the Community Centre venue is in excellent condition to host Sunday’s meeting and he anticipates a keen battle with Da Silva raising his game to challenge the pros.
Apart from the championship trophy, each race carries with it cash prizes for the top three finishers in each category. Yaseen revealed that everything is in place to host the 12 races scheduled for the event that begins at 12 noon.
“So far the riders are confirming their participation; the ground is in excellent shape and a lot is at stakes. Everything is in place,” Yaseen informed, adding that the venture is a collaborative effort with Banks DIH Limited.
The Rajkarran duo, Andy and Raj, Vassie Barry, Terrence Clarke, Alvin Balgobin, Dave Gangadin and the Da Silva borthers have all been confirmed for the meet on Sunday with top rider, Andrew Wong still to book his participation.
