Harrinarine Chattergoon appointed captain
Former National Under-15 player Harrinarine Chattergoon the younger brother of West Indies opener Sewnarine Chattergoon has been appointed captain of the Berbice squad for the 34th GTM Under-19 Inter County cricket tournament which was scheduled to bowl off yesterday at the Uitvlugt Ground between Demerara and Essequibo.
Another former Under-15 player, Joemal La Fleur has been appointed Vice Captain when the Junior Selection Committee of the Berbice Cricket Board under the chairmanship of Leslie Solomon shortlisted the twenty-man squad from which the final 14 will be selected.
Opener Dominic Rickey who captained Lower Corentyne in the Inter-Zone tournament had indicated his non-interest in the captaincy so as to concentrate on his batting.
The squad includes West Indies Under-19 player Keon Joseph and several other players who have represented Guyana at the junior level including Clinton Pestano, Jamally Odle and present national Under-15 captain Shawn Perreira.
The full squad is Harrinarine Chattergoon, Dominic Rickey, Raffiel Estriado, Joemal La Fleur, Andrew Dennis, Clinton Pestano, Sherwin McPherson, Mark Lionel, Andy Mohan, Lloydel Lewis, Jamally Odle, Shawn Perreira, Raun Johnson, Keon Joseph, Kelvin Leitch, Brentnol Woolford, Kevin Ramdeen, Collis Cort, Avinash Wajid, Gudakesh Motie Kanhai and Sharmendra Hardyal.
National Under-19 coach and former first class player Hubern Evans would serve as coach of the team while Berbice Cricket Board Executive Julian Cambridge would be the team’s Manager.
