Liaison officer to the Minister of Home Affairs Philip Ishmael was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation yesterday after an apparent suicide attempt at his Diamond Housing Scheme residence. Police said that Ishmael reportedly tried to hang himself following a domestic dispute.
According to reports, Ishmael, the Liaison officer for Community Policing Groups in the Home Affairs Ministry, had a domestic dispute on Easter Monday. Police stated that the dispute escalated at around 07:00 hrs yesterday. It is alleged that Ishmael was later seen carrying a piece of rope into a bedroom.
Kaieteur News was told that shortly after, a female on the premises heard groans emanating from the bedroom and upon entering, saw Ishmael dangling by the neck from a piece of rope attached to a beam. The woman reportedly used a knife to cut the semi-conscious man down.
He was then rushed to the GPHC where he was admitted.
