A 37-year-old man is nursing bullet wounds to the back after being shot by a security guard during a burglary at around 04:30 hrs at the Discount Store bond in High Street.
According to police reports, Gregory Mentore, of no fixed place of abode was on the premises when a security guard shot him in the right upper back.
A quantity of footwear was reportedly found in Mentore’s possession and the bond was observed to have been broken into.
It is unclear whether the suspect was armed.
Mentore has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
The guard involved in the shooting was questioned for several hours at the Brickdam Police Station.
