Sans Souci, Good Success, Noitgedacht record victories
Sans Souci, Good Success and Noitgedacht recorded victories in the latest action of the Igloo Ice Cream 40 overs Cricket competition played last Sunday in Wakenaam.
At Zeelandia, Sans Souci defeated arch rivals Sans Souci Jaguars by 4 wickets. The Jaguars won the toss and batted and were off to a flying start reaching 54 without loss in 8 overs with skipper Charles Benjamin who scored 48 (5×4, 4×6) and Rashaad Rasheed 9 leading the way. After they were separated in the 9th over the Jaguars lost wickets at regular intervals to be 126-9 in 25 overs before Zaheer Mohamed and last man Satrohan Shiwnandan added 120 runs for the last wicket taking the score to 246 in the process.
Mohamed, who was caught off the final delivery of the innings, stroked a fluent 69 (11×4, 2×6) while Shiwnandan made 58 (4×4, 6×6). Nokta Moses (19) was the other batsman to reach double figures as off spinner Gurnauth Khemraj grabbed 5-22 while Seon Venture and Satnarine Sahadeo took two wickets each for Sans Souci who responded with 247-6 in 33 overs.
Former national U-15 player Oyono Sampson ended unbeaten on 107 (8×4, 9×6) while Venture made 32, Jaggernauth Manbodh 30 and Heera Sukram 21. Imran Mohamed picked 2-36 while Zaheer Mohamed, Moin Khan and Tamesh Charritar had one each. The game was reduced to 35 overs due to a late start.
At Wakenaam Centre ground, Good Success overcame Zeelandia by 5 wickets. Zeelandia batted first and made 125 all out in 32 overs after being comfortably placed at 81-2 at one stage.
Ajay Ghansham with 33 and Navishaul Pooran 27 were their leading scorers as left arm spinner Imran Khan bagged 4-38, Nazeer Mohamed 3-17 and Chandreka Ragnauth 2-37. Good Success replied with 127-5 in 21 overs. (Zaheer Mohamed)
