The Demerara Cricket Club will host two T/10 semi-finals and a T20 final at the DCC ground on Sunday and West Indies players Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan are expected to play for GCC in the four-team competition.
According to a DCC release, The President and Executive of the Demerara Cricket Club are taking the initiative of introducing for the first time T/10 cricket at the hard ball level in Guyana following the recent T/10 nation-wide softball competition.
The tournament features city teams DCC, GCC and Everest along with West Demerara side New Line Cavaliers.
The action starts at 10:00hrs a winner’s trophy and a handsome cash prize will be up for grabs.
Expected to be part of the DCC line up will be Guyana’s newest Test player Travis Dowlin, Christopher Barnwell, West Indies Under-19 opener Trevon Griffith and Jamal Hinckson. GCC are expected to include Chanderpaul, Sarwan, West Indies ODI batsman Leon Johnson and former national 20/20 Keeper Tyrell Tull.
Everest will feature former West Indies Test opener Ryan Ramdass, Abilash Dookie, Troy Gonsalves and Leon Scott, while New Line Cavaliers will include national and former West Indies under-19 left-hander Gajanand Singh, Andrew Lyght Jnr, Paul Wintz and Orin Forde who was a member of the Guyana team which won the inaugural Regional 20/20 in 2006.
