Schools, NGO’s, cricket clubs & U-15 player receive sports gear from RHTY&SC

The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) under its Sports and Community Development Programme donated $200,000 worth of sports gear including cricket balls and other items to several schools, NGOs, cricket clubs and an Under-15 cricketer.
The presentation is the latest of several donations by the Club as part of its efforts to get all youths in Berbice involved in sports and to Say No to Drugs.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster at the presentation noted that the club’s cricket teams, Farfan & Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19, Gizmos & Gadgets Under-23, First Division and Metro Female teams all pooled their resources and energies to obtain the necessary items and this was done under the club’s Personal Self Development Programmes.
Foster challenged the recipients to use the items to develop sports in Berbice and to play major roles in saving the lives of youths from drugs and crime.
The Lower Corentyne, Corentyne Comprehensive and Port Mourant Secondary Schools all received gear for several indoor and outdoor sports while the Whim Cricket Club received $25, 000 worth of cricket balls.
The New Amsterdam Technical Institute and the Berbice Disabled Persons Network were presented with equipment for indoor games.
The Berbice Cricket Board received a bicycle and coffee maker as prizes for a countywide raffle while Under-15 Police Sports Club cricketer Quacy Mickle received a pair of cricket uniforms and a pair of boots.
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club also donated $15,000 worth of trophies to the newly launched Church of the Ascension Table Tennis Club of New Amsterdam. The trophies would be used to host a competition for young players in the Ancient County.
Treasurer of the Berbice Board, Anil Beharry expressed gratitude to the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club for the donation. The RHTY&SC, he said, has over the years strived to assist dozens of clubs across the county and encouraged the Management to continue in this path.
