The Guyana Police Force B Division Community Outreach and sports programme received a tremendous boost recently when they were the recipient of a number of sports gear. The presenter was overseas based Guyanese and popular Cattle farmer and Businessman Krishna Appiah.
Mr. Appiah speaking after the presentation, said that he was very much impressed with the community outreach work that is being undertaken by the force, especially at the Central Police Station and when contacted he immediately decided to assist. He plans to make it a regular venture and to contact some of his friends as soon as he returns overseas to make a more tangible donation.
Station Sergeant at the Central Police Station and officer in charge of the outreach programme, Jairam Ramlakhan, received the gear from Mr. Appiah and thanked him for the foresight; he said most of the gear will be used in the police Operation Youth Clubs.
Sergeant Ramlakhan is the holder of a Certificate in International Human Rights & Humanitarian Law which he received in Jamaica in 2002/2003.
