Dear Editor,
I just read that a contract was awarded to Synergy for constructing the road to Amaila Falls.
I also note that Synergy is the original developer for the Hydro Project and several questions come to mind:
1. Is there a conflict with Synergy the developer being awarded a construction contract?
2. Does Synergy have any road building experience?
3. What equipment does Synergy have in Guyana or elsewhere for completing this project?
4. Has due diligence been completed on their construction ability?
5. How can they complete a US$15 million project in eight months? That is a burn rate of nearly US$2 million a month. No one in Guyana (no contractor) has been able to sustain that kind of use rate.
6. What happens if the road is done and the money is not there for constructing the Hydropower Project?
In a short time, the forest will take over again.
