Residents on the West Coast of Demerara are seeking the assistance of Conservation International to return an endangered leatherback turtle to its natural habitat.
The turtle washed up on the Tuschen Foreshore yesterday and was transported to the Leonora Police Station, where it remained in a fridge awaiting the relevant authorities to intervene.
According to police sources, the turtle was found on the beach and was delivered to the station by two boys.
However, the Officer stated that the boys revealed that a woman had collected about 20 eggs that belonged to the sea turtle.
