Leitch, Joemal La Fleur also hit tons
The Berbice Zone of the 2009/2010 Guyana Cricket Board First Division 3-Day Cricket Competition continued with the conclusion of the latest round of matches over the last weekend.
Registering centuries were Steffon Adams of West Berbice as well as the 17 year old Bermine pair of Kelvin Leitch and Berbice Under-19 allrounder Joemal La Fleur.
At the Blairmont Ground, West Berbice inflicted an innings and 154 run whipping on Young Warriors.
West Berbice, resuming at their overweek score of 155 for 3, responding to Young Warriors 175 with Adams on 65 not out and Troy Haley on 14 n.o., went on to rattle up 432 all out with Adams going on to top score with 105 (3 fours), his maiden ton, Haley 34, Sherwin McPherson 41, Keith Fraser 37, Kenje Sedoc 34 and national cricketer Keon Joseph 27 n.o.
Bowling for Young Warriors, former Guyana and Berbice cricketer and now the national Under-19 coach, offspinner Hubern Evans took 5 for 99 from 28 overs, offspinner Farouk Hussain 2 for 54 and former West Indies Under-19 cricketer Richard Ramdeen, bowling left arm spin 2 for 90.
Young Warriors facing a first innings deficit of 257 runs and severely handicapped due to the absence of three of their batsmen, former Berbice Under-19 opening batsman Hussain and the prolific opener Waheid Edwards as well as the injured Fiaz Hamid, could only reach 103 for 7 innings closed in their second innings with Ishwar Singh top scoring with 41. Bowling for West Berbice former Berbice Under-19 offspinner Krishnadat Ramoo took 3 for 13 and former Berbice Under-15 pacer Raun Johnson 2 for 22.

At the Cumberland Ground in Canje, Rose Hall Community Centre took first innings points from Bermine in their drawn match.
Bermine resumed at their overweek 1st innings score of 61 for 1 responding to Rose Hall’s challenging 335 with Kelvin Leitch and Trinson Bynoe each on 25 n.o. After Bynoe fell for 37, Leitch continued holding things together. He and Joemal La Fleur who made a quick fire 63 (10 fours), put on 75 for the 3rd wicket. He went on to score his maiden ton 105 (16 fours) to help Bermine reach 274 in reply. Bowling for Rose Hall, former Berbice Under-15 legspinner Kevin Ramdeen took 4 for 77, and offspinner Romesh Munna 2 for 64.
With a first innings lead of 61, Rose Hall Community Centre batting in their second innings, two cricketers short on the last day, made 306 all out with Munna topscoring with 73, Khemraj Sumair 54 (his second half century of the match), Kevin Ramdeen 41, Sasenarine Sukhdeo 28 and Vishal Mohabir 27.
Bowling for Bermine, left arm spinner Troy Mickle took 6 wickets and Joemal La Fleur 2 for 67.
Bermine left 60 Overs on the last day to negotiate for 368 runs, lost two wickets in the first over for 1 run but thanks mainly La Fleur scoring an even hundred, his first, First Division ton, and Leitch scoring 43, Bermine managed to reach 279 for 7 by the end of the match. Offspinner Vedesh Singh took 2 for 15 for Rose Hall Community Centre.
Scores: Rose Hall Community Centre 335 and 306; Bermine 274 and 279 for 7. Points: Rose Hall Community Centre 6, Bermine 3. At Edinburgh, Edinburgh came back to defeat Police by 4 wickets after Police had taken first innings points.
Police, with a first innings lead of 69 runs, resumed their second innings at 6 for 1 and were bowled out for 183 despite a fighting 73 from Michael Newland. Kenroy Henry and Philbert Wilburgh made 26 each.
Bowling for Edinburgh, offspinner Mark Sampson took 4 for 31 which together with his first innings return of 5 for 36, to get a match haul of 9 for 67. Offspinner Raid Ally took 4 for 49 and another offspinner Charles Shepherd 2 for 36.
Set 253 for victory, Edinburgh reached the target for the loss of six wickets with Chris Yadram 56, Shafeek Khan 63 and Zahir Hussain 35 n.o. Bowling for Police offspinner Andel Doris took 2 for 64 and former Guyana Under-19 pacer Kellon Henry 2 for 64.
Scores: Police 188 and 183; Edinburgh 119 and 253 for 6. Points: Edinburgh 12, Police 4.
At Rose Hall Town, Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets beat Port Mourant by 4 wickets.
Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets, resuming at the overweek first innings score of 143 for 5, in response to Port Mourant’s 118, made 200 all out with Troy Mathieson 44, Berbice Under-19 allrounder Terrence Madramootoo 43 and Berbice Under-19 cricketer Eon Hooper 25. Bowling for Port Mourant former Guyana Under-19 offspinner Steven Latcha took 5 for 49 from 24 overs, offspinner Sameer Khan 2 for 26 and medium pacer Yudendra Harrinarine 2 for 50.
Facing a first innings deficit of 82 runs, Port Mourant could only muster 146 in their second innings with Devendra Thakurdeen 81 n.o. and former Berbice opening batsman Moshin Perkhan 24. Bowling for Rose Hall Town, left arm spinner Ravi Narine took 3 for 38 and former Berbice Under-15 offspinner Lloydel Lewis 3 for 42.
Rose Hall Town Gizmos & gadgets needing just 64 to win in their second innings, reached 68 for 6 with Jason Sinclair 25. For Port Mourant offspinner Thakurdeen took 3 for 6 and Latcha 2 for 26.
