Scotiabank sold the house, at which some person or persons so far unknown hurled a grenade, after a public tender.
This information was made public by lawyers for Mahender Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Guyana Energy Agency, and his wife, Marcia Nadir-Sharma. Mrs Nadir-Sharma is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Privatization Unit.
In the Thursday issue of Kaieteur News, the report on the grenade throwing stated that Sharma had bought the house from David Narine. David Narine who recently served a drug-induced sentence owned the house and who is now out on five years’ supervised release.
Lawyers for the Sharmas stated, “At no time did out clients ever have any negotiations, conversations or any dealings whatsoever with David Narine. In fact, our clients have never met the individual.”
Kaieteur News never intended to insinuate any wrongdoing on the part of the Sharmas. It however, apologises for any further alarm, anxiety and stress to the Sharmas.
Meanwhile, the police say that they are no nearer to making an arrest for the grenade throwing, which Prime Minister Samuel Hinds and Mr Chandra Narine Sharma contend, was directly related to Mahender Sharma’s work.
