Teenager, Robin Holder, who was shot by police last week Wednesday during a shoot out with police, has been positively identified as one of the perpetrators of the Cool Square Bar robbery which left Canada-based Guyanese Rawle Harding dead.
This new development adds a new twist to the murder of Harding, since two men have already been charged in connection with his death.
Police have charged Dwaine Critchlow, a 27-year-old miner of Vigilance, East Coast Demerara, and Junior Bourne, 19, of East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, in connection with Harding’s death. Kaieteur News understands that Holder, who was discharged from hospital on Monday, was picked out from an identification parade.
Surveillance cameras had showed two men with guns attacking patrons of the cool square bar, fatally shooting Harding. Investigators had reportedly used the images from the camera to identify the perpetrators.
Holder, of North East La Penitence, was shot on Wednesday night during a confrontation with police ranks at the Texaco Service Station in Mandela Avenue.
Police alleged that he was carrying a black .38 revolver (serial number 2173906) with five rounds.
Detectives were investigating his possible links to other robberies and killings, including the slaying of waitress, Kulmattie Singh, at the Safraz Bar in Kitty on January 8.
The 19-year-old Holder, known to his associates as “Nuff Wuck”, is also being fingered in a robbery on Orange Walk during which the victim was shot three times.
Detectives have received information which suggested that a gang of young gunmen committed killings and other recent armed robberies in the city and Greater Georgetown.
At the time of his arrest, Holder had identified himself as Akeem Rose.
Police sources said that they had been trying to locate the suspect for some time following Singh’s murder.
Investigators believe that Holder’s accomplice in the Mandela Avenue confrontation is a man known as ‘Cobra’, who is suspected to have gunned down a man in Cayenne in 2009.
Police believe that the men were planning a robbery when the TSU ranks confronted them on Wednesday night near the service station.
Police allege that Holder and his accomplice had opened fire at a police patrol while sitting in a car.
