Police are probing the suspected suicide of 47-year-old Maxwell Hardat Singh, who was found dead in his Zeeburg, West Coast Demerara home on Monday night with a gunshot wound to the head.
According to a police release, initial investigations revealed that Singh went home at around 21:00 hrs under the influence of alcohol and began discharging rounds into the air from his licenced pistol while in the yard.
Singh’s daughter spoke to him and the man then proceeded into the home where he is reported to have shot himself to the head.
He was pronounced dead at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
The firearm has been lodged with the police.
