All Captains involved in scripting playing conditions
Executives of the GCA meet with Georgetown 2nd division cricket Captains on Sunday afternoon at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Haier Cup 40-overs second division competition, sponsored by Queensway, bowls off from 11:00hrs on Saturday with seven matches and all Captains were involved in the scripting of the playing conditions for the competition.
A special meeting with the 2nd division Captains in the City, which lasted more than 3 hours, was held at the Malteenoes pavilion on Sunday to discuss and formalize the playing conditions for the competition.
GCA President Roger Harper, his Vice-President Neil Barry and his other executives, all of whom with the exception of Harper and PRO, Umpire Colin Alfred, still play at the club level, interacted with the Captains.
It was decided that the free-hit rule will be used in this competition while bonus points will also be gained by teams for various totals reached over 100 or for the more wickets they take in a match.
A detailed match report and Umpires assessment form has to be completed by each team and sent to the GCA not later than 48 hours after the completion of their game failing which 5 points will be deducted from their overall points in the competition.
All grounds with covers are mandated to use them in the event of rain, while the GCA is in the process of providing one official scorer for each match. The GCA will also stand the cost of balls and Umpires fees while the host team will be responsible for the meals for both Umpires.
It was disclosed that a Player of the Round award will be presented after each round and the team with the higher number of points host the semi-finals and Final which could be used a fund-raising event for their club.
The GCA is presently upgrading its website and announced that each week the points standing and batting and bowling aggregate of the top 10 players will be sent to the media for publication.
Any team that fails to produce at least seven players by the scheduled 11:00hrs starting time will lose their game by a walk-over while if one team is guilty of conceding a walk-over more than once they will be banned from the competition.
The competition will be played with red balls and white clothes and each club is mandated to produce a list of registered players by tomorrow. No player can play for more than one team in the competition.
Fixtures for the 1st round on Saturday:-
