Yesterday, two meteorology workshops and a one-day meeting of the Caribbean Metrology Institute (CARIMET) started at Cara Lodge Hotel in Georgetown.
It is being hosted by the Inter American Metrology, in collaboration with CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) and the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS).
According to Head, Information Services for Executive Director, Evadnie Benfield, metrologists from across the Caribbean region are in Guyana for a two-day workshop titled ‘Verification of Weighing’ machines to R76 and will be facilitated by Mr. Manuel Pena of the Metrology Institute of Mexico (CENAM).
She stated there will also be a training workshop facilitated by Mr. Alejandro Lazo also of CENAM on the Verification of Fuel Dispensers.
She added that participants will also have the opportunity to acquire some amount of practice in the areas which they were instructed as the facilities at the GNBS will be made available for this purpose.
It is hoped that at the end of the training activities, participants will be better equipped to carry out their various functions in the specific field of metrology, in their respective countries.
